Tribal Gathering
Under the moonlight and stars. Around a sparkling fire...
In the warm sweetness of the kitchen Among the garden flowers
Where can you see us dancing?
Don't come to us without bringing music. We celebrate with drum and flute, with wine, not made of grapes, in a place you cannot imagine.
Rumi
There are plenty of modern day events that you can transform into a 'Tribal' gathering:
Birthdays Bridal and Baby Showers Splurge Groups Book Clubs Hafli's BBQ's and Picnics
If you can invite some people, and organize some good music, food and drink, you can host a gathering with flair!
Try some Recipes from the Middle East at your next tribal gathering.
With a little experience, you can also offer these "Tribal Gathering Activities" anywhere you go! You can enhance any gathering with the beauty and pleasure of belly-tribal dance!
Why will we be dancing?
Bellydance has a rich history of tribal gatherings. Some are purely social, and some are more significant:
worship and prayer honoring the bounties of Nature marking the passages of Life (birth, coming of age, marriage and death) celebrations and parties
Bellydance is a perfect compliment to any occasion! But you don't need any reason at all. Just get together for the love of dance!

Performances can be a part of a Tribal Gathering, but have them in moderation. A Tribal Gathering is social-entertainment, not a stage show.

How can we ALL dance together?
It's a snap to organize a few activities to get everyone dancing. Use the "Tribal Gathering" suggestions "as is", or use them as springboards to create your own social activities. Once the dancers fill the floor, let the music play!
Be sure to have some refreshments nearby. Dancers will need the occasional recovery period.

Boys Can Too!
It may be controversial (even taboo) and uncomfortable at times, but boys and men are dancers too!Our sons and brothers, our lovers and husbands have their own unique dance, and only they can do it. We are not created the same, but we are created equal. Invite 'men-ergy' into your dance circles and events. Work through any challenges that arise. It really is worth it!
