Our hairstyle is the crown we wear everyday. Hair styles for dances must compliment our costume without inhibiting movement.
Most bellydancers prefer to let their hair be natural and free. As soon as you add clips, flowers, jewels, or scarves, you limit what you can do with your head.

Otherwise, a simple headband or barrette can be added to keep hair away from the face. Movement is not greatly limited unless you get really wild.

The single, most important aspect of hair styles for dances is...

...Cleanliness
If you like what is on top of your head for everyday use, chances are you can use it that way for your dance. If your hair is clean, and you like the cut and color of it, it will work for all dance activities.

A wig is 'ready-made' hair. However, there are a few considerations:Try it on! - See how it looks before you buy. Dance in it a bit to get a feel for the weight, and fit.Movement of the Head is Limited - neck rolls and flips will upset the wig (or toss it completely free)

Good Wigs Cost $$$$ - You need real hair, quality mesh for a good fit and fairly dense (halloween wigs are inadequate). If you are going to purchase a wig, do not sacrifice quality for a bargain! You'll regret it!Wigs do not Grow-Back - If you get tired of the color or style of the hair, it is difficult to change.
Gypsy Hair Flair
For a gypsy-style hairstyle, use colorful scarves and braids.
