Dance Party Ideas

The dance party ideas on this page will enhance any social gathering. Form these circles, lines, and crescents with others to enhance your "Dancing Lifestyle", and energize your global village.

In a "Dancing Lifestyle", a social gathering is more fun when there is bellydance included. It feels good to bellydance, even if you never take classes or perform on stage.

Bellydance is not just a performance art. It is social recreation!

You can get together and dance just for F.U.N!

Get Off the Stage!

Imagine a beautiful setting....a home....a garden....a park....a forest. There is a table of delectable morsels. There is water and other 'liquid' refreshments.
(To cook up some Bellydance Cuisine, check out these Middle Eastern Recipes)

There is pleasing music and fragrance. Perhaps there is fire, or warm sunlight. It is a comfortable temperature. And there is an open space ready and anticipating....THE DANCE.

Playful Dance Activities

Circle Round #1

Gather round - oh dancers!

the circle dances
in & out, to the right & to the left

Enjoying the music
Enjoying eachother

Circle Round #2

The music plays
We form a circle
Everyone dances their own way within the circle

One person moves to the center
(in the center of mutual support and love)
moving safely and in freedom

Then they re-join the circle
while another dancer moves to the center

Dance on!

Tunnel

Form a passageway of dancing bodies
one/two dancers move through - then one/two more

What will happen next?
Do they join the tunnel at the end, or continue on in some way?

Let there be some mystery
Allow for spontaneity ~ a sprinkle of the unknown

Parade

Like Follow-the-Leader,
or a Wild Procession

Beat the drums!
Resound the song!

Here we come!

Pass the Veil

The veil ~ symbol of mystery, protection, adornment, concealment

Hidden and Revealing

Form a dancing circle
A Veiled One dances amongst us.....

Then chooses the next dancer,
and brings her/him in....

All dancers are ready for the moment they are called
to the Dance

Tribe Style

Forming a dancing crescent, or some other organic form

Dancer on the far left begins a movement
All others follow

The bodies shift the shape at times
And other dancers take the far left - chooses movements for the tribe

Yip and Cheer!
Celebrate Eachother!
Oh the Music!
Oh the Dance!

*(N.B. Keep the movements repetitive so that everyone can catch on, and communicate while you dance. This takes practice.)
